Jen Powers, now Founder & Director of Mission, will be focusing her efforts on the growth and sustainability of Tried & True. As we watch God widen and deepen our reach, we are excited for the opportunity to capitalize on Jen’s passion and gifting to cast vision with potential partners, focus on the personal and professional development of staff, and take on more speaking and training in the community. Jen will remain the core leader of Tried & True and will serve as the visionary, supporting and furthering the strategic direction of the organization.   Gail Cicak, will be our Executive Director, leading the day-to-day operations of Tried & True, managing staff, and overseeing program execution. Gail will prioritize our amazing team of current partners and sustainers, who are the reason we can do the beautiful work we do. Gail’s intentionality and balance of prioritizing relationship and excellence are the perfect fit for what Tried & True needs as we support & equip families.  We believe the unique skill set and wiring of Jen and Gail are exactly what God had in mind as we launch into the next 10 years of Tried & True! Hope for the Journey Parenting is difficult - no questions asked. Even though the journey can be exhausting and challenging, there is beauty and hope to experience as well. For children and teens impacted by adoption or foster care, the effects of their past can create unique, complicated needs, which can lead to difficult parent and child interactions, developmental delays, and other challenges. But no child is beyond hope and healing. Just a couple of weeks ago, Tried & True partnered with The Shepherd’s Crook and North Cincinnati Community Church to bring Hope for the Journey to our community. This simulcast experience provided tools to parents, church leaders, and professionals to build connection and trust with the children in their care. We were honored to partner with OT4Hope and Learn2Thrive who shared resources and expertise as well. What a privilege to link arms with like-minded professionals in our community to empower and equip caregivers! Tee Off with Tried & True Our 5th Annual Golf Outing is on June 1st! Register now! Money raised from this event will fund our ongoing work with families, especially under-resourced families in our local community and those caring for children with complex needs.  The need is great! Click Here to Register or Learn More Empowering Caregivers & Professionals! Jen had the opportunity to speak at two conferences during the month of March. The Thrive Conference was a FREE 3rd annual full day event in Hamilton, Ohio. The heart of Thrive is to equip adoptive & foster caregivers with the tools needed to do more than just survive… but to thrive in the years following adoption. Jen focused on attachment styles, helping caregivers learn the style of caregiving they were given as an infant and understand what they now offer their kids as a result. She offered practical tools on how to provide a balance of connection and correction in parenting. The annual Connect Conference hosted by Focus on Youth brought together caregivers, parents, and professionals in Southwest, Ohio to explore new ideas, forge meaningful connections, and unlock the potential for growth and success in children. Jen focused on training attendees on how to connect before correcting, even during the most challenging behaviors. Her focus was to explore what we bring to a tough behavior moment based on our own histories and teach the power of a Parent Redo. Both conferences were a beautiful opportunity to meet and engage with wonderful parents and to share about the support we offer in Tried & True! “Absolutely SO GRATEFUL…” A Family Story from our January – March 2025 Virtual TBRI Series Recently, we took Neko to Dave and Busters - something we haven't done in quite a long while. The lack of predictability and overstimulation can create a lot of tough situations. I am so grateful for TBRI. We were having a moment because Neko wasn't getting the answer he wanted. I stood with a "deer in the headlights" kind of response. Then Neko gently told me to "approach this situation with curiosity." Lol, can you believe that?! Out of the mouth of babes. We laughed, I hugged him, and we worked through it. Neko still didn't get what he wanted, but it was the shift that we needed. You have helped us understand each other and given us a language to get through things better than we could have before. As for the rest of the night, we hit a rough patch when it was time to leave, but I used more TBRI and we found our stride. You are still in our daily conversations. I pray your impact is in our every interaction.  We are absolutely so incredibly grateful for what you have taught us. -Kim & Eric Beutel, TBRI Alumni  A Family Story from our January – March 2025 CSP Series with our newest partner, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church T&T made an immediate impact in our family. After years of battling different parenting styles, my husband and I finally agree on how to handle behaviors in our house. We now work together as a team instead of individuals and the kids respond positively to that team approach! We began seeing early immediate changes in our children’s behavior and saw them actively trying to work on their target behaviors. T&T also helped us, as parents, recognize our own “triggers” and unfavorable responses.
